Under the Trees
Sheltered ceremony among Owen's mature plantings — gifted from friends and family the world over. Quiet, intimate, dappled light.
Comfortable for 20–40
A blank canvas under the Pisa Range. Bring your celebration; we'll bring the land.
Start a conversationCalvert sits on Felton Road in Bannockburn — schist underfoot, Pisa Range to the west, vine rows running for the horizon. It's a working family vineyard producing some of Central Otago's most highly-regarded Pinot Noir, and a place that's brought people together since Owen Calvert first planted here.
The land is the venue. There are no fixed structures designed for weddings, no rented chairs in storage, no off-the-shelf packages. What we have is a sheltered acreage with mature plantings — many gifted by friends and family from around the world — dramatic Central Otago views, and the rhythm of a small vineyard.
That openness is the point. Our role is to host you and your people on the land. Yours is to bring the celebration you want — your caterer, your celebrant, your style. We'll connect you with local vendors who know the property well, and we'll help with anything you need from us.
The morning after, wake up in The East Wing cottage, walk out into the vines, and start married life with a quiet coffee.
Each spot has its own feel. Owen will walk you through them on a site visit.

No upper cap — bring what you need
Spots and best layouts shift with the seasons. The names above are starting points — the right one for your day depends on guest count, time of year, and what you're imagining.
Calvert is a relatively new wedding venue, and we're collecting words from past couples to share here. Ask us for vendor references and we'll happily put you in touch with celebrants and photographers who know the property well.
A few things to get us started — Owen replies within 48 hours, usually same day during the week.
We'd love for you to. Our Pinot Noir is grown on the same land you'll be married on, and we offer it at trade pricing for events. You're welcome to bring additional wines or spirits — a small corkage fee applies for bottles outside the Calvert range.
Yes — bring whichever caterer you'd like. Most local Central Otago caterers already know the site. We're happy to recommend a few we've worked with.
Most couples bring a marquee regardless, which doubles as wet-weather cover. Central Otago averages around 80 dry days each summer, but the marquee is the safety net everyone leans on.
Yes — there's plenty of off-street parking on the property. Many couples organise a shuttle from Cromwell (5 min drive) so guests can enjoy the wine.
Bannockburn is rural and quiet, so we ask that amplified music wind down by 11pm out of respect for the small handful of close neighbours. Acoustic later is fine.
Yes — we love a good wedding dog. Owen's only ask is that they're on a lead near the vines and aren't left unattended on the lawn.
